Thankful for MK! She has asked me many times to update the blog.....and I haven't. I have all of the excuses but not one really adds up to a great reason why. So, during our continued quarantine for Covid-2019, I am catching up - all in one post, lol.
For Mom's birthday, we arranged a family photo session to take place. The task of getting all 19 of us together on a particular day at a particular time is one that takes LOTS of planning. We made it happen tho and after pics were taken, we all had dinner with one another - it was a night that all of us thoroughly enjoyed. Mom and Dad were both happy to have us all together!
Kendyl and Maryn....friends from Day 1. To have them together is a treat. They talk non-stop and giggle like nobodies business.
Chapman had a few procedures during the summer and early Fall. We were thrilled to learn that all is well with her sweet little back and her bladder. During this time, we talked a lot about her back and how she was born with spina bifida. When we talked about surgery and the doctors taking a look to be sure all was well, she said, "Oh, you mean they are going to take a look at my scarf?" Yes, sweet Chapman, your "scarf" aka scar....it's her battle wound, part of her story.
ANNIE Camp
I was thrilled when the girls asked if they could participate in a theatre camp especially since the theme was my all time favorite show ever, Annie.
Maryn and Maddox shined on stage! I was so impressed and SO proud of both of them! Maddox was cast as Pepper, the bossy/older orphan and Maryn was a little sweet orphan. On show day, the girls had friends come to see them perform!
Maryn loved it so much, she asked to audition for her own show in October, A Christmas Carol. Again, one of my very favorites!
To finish off our summer vacation, we took one last trip to Seabrook Island. We spent the week doing our usual - beach going, relaxing, eating, and surrounded by some of our favorite friends.
Maryn turns 7
What a precious baby girl this little one is. She admittedly and shamelessly cheats at every game she plays, she has the best laugh ever, she loves to have her back scratched at any given opportunity, she loves to read, she loves to sing and perform and put on make-up....she is a joy and we are thankful for the opportunity to call her ours forever! On her 7th birthday, she braved the mall with all of us in tow and got her ears pierced. Tho there were a few tears, she was beyond excited to have it done!
Our annual mountain trip to Maggie Valley....we had a fabulous time visiting with Gran and Pop. For this trip, we took a day trip over to Gatlinburg for a day of alpine sledding and a bit of mountain fun. We also did the usual Waynesville tour and on one evening we went for ice cream a bit later in the night....this proved to be a fun time for all!
First Day of School
So, two out of six for pics on the first day isn't bad, right? Well, C started at college so that was a given for no pic.....MK and P are "too old" for my madness with pics....and Chapman had her first day the following week.
So, first day of First Grade for Maryn with two of our favorites, Miss Teagarden and Mrs. Steadman. We have personally known these two ladies for several years and consider them part of the family so we knew Maryn would be in the best hands while in school.
Maddox had her first day of Fourth Grade with Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Reese and Mrs. Moose. She was so excited to see her friends and get settled in for the year!
Chapman and I had the privilege of babysitting our friends', the Millers, little foster baby every Tuesday. We enjoyed this little love!
And one day, while I was busy preparing for the Fall Consigning to Adopt sale, Chapman visited with her friend, Titus, and made him her Prince.
We took a day trip to the zoo for a dinosaur exhibit. On the way, we stopped by our favorite fast food restaurant in SC, Rush's, grabbed some burgers and took them over to have lunch with G-Mom and G-Dad. It was a lovely day!
AC Fall Football
Much to my dismay, Pryce insisted on playing football once again. I do like football but I LOVE Pryce and the thought of him ramming into dudes each day/night, getting bruise after bruise, etc., etc., makes me anxious. He loves and enjoys football so much! I am thankful he does have the opportunity to play BUT I am always cheering my loudest when the game is over, even if we lose!
I worry most about his head.
On the last game of our season, Pryce recovered a fumble and took off down the field with the ball! Oh my word! I yelled and yelled.....the crowd yelled....chanting his name - it was amazing! He got within inches of scoring his first TD and an opponent dragged him down. AC went onto score and finish the night with a win!
Pryce limped off of the field with a huge grin on his face.....the best part was watching his coach run over to him and greet him with a big high five. Our family took off to Seabrook for the weekend....Pryce complained a good bit about his ankle hurting but said he would be fine after a good shower, some Tylenol and rest.
He spent the weekend limping. We got home, he went to the team trainer, she gave him some suggestions on how to work through the pain and told him it was his achilles tendon. So, we waited. Midweek, P came down for breakfast stating that he had not slept well because of the pain.....I immediately made it my mission to get him into an orthopedist ASAP. P always sleeps, no matter the noise, no matter anything....he slept during my entire pregnancy and he has always been a sleeper. We were able to get in with our friend and upon doing an xray, it was discovered that his tibia was broken just above his ankle. No wonder he was in pain!!! BLESS! I put on my Mother of the Year crown once again, got him fitted for a nice little boot, and his recovery began!
Meanwhile, we are thankful he had a great season, he was Team Captain alongside his friend, Spencer, his family was able to come out and cheer him on for a few games, and his injury was one that mended well after casting and physical therapy.
This year, Maryn asked to take a year off from ballet. Although our big girls have always loved ballet, and we love watching them dance, Maryn asking to do something a bit different was a welcomed change. She asked to do gymnastics and Hip/Hop! She had the best time doing both yet ultimately she chose to do Hip Hop and Jazz. We were so excited to see her debut onstage and then Covid happened :/. Oh well, the experience was good! Next year she is asking to go back to ballet.....we hope she will grow to love it all!
Chapman
She is always busy! And she thinks outside of the box....every.single.time! Gosh, I love her so much! She makes me laugh even when the mess is bigger than planned.
Two speeds....peacefully sleeping or curiously exploring life!
Maryn was the cutest little old lady in First Grade!
In Maddox's spare time, she has loved cooking! Once a week during the Fall, she prepared a meal for our family and we all loved each one!
Happy Birthday to Mommy! Coldstone with my favorite people - the only person missing was Colin :( Navigating college is tricky but we are so glad he has enjoyed his Sophomore year in school!
This is how Cha can be found during her downtime....she loves a good ipad show....this doesn't happen often but when it does, she is thrilled!
