MK: "Mom, do you know my heart is beeping?"

Me: "Yes."

MK: "Do you know that means Jesus is in my heart and that is why he keeps beeping it?"

YIKES! Tonight at dinner, with Ryan NOT even present to help me out, one of the boys casually said, "So, mom, did you ever get the talk when you were younger?"

Friday night was a big night for the boys! It was piano recital time. For Colin, this was his 3rd. For Pryce, this was his FIRST. This time last year, Pryce watched in amazement as one of his best friends played during her first piano recital. After watching her and seeing how well she did, he asked if he could take lessons too. He began in August and he doesn't miss a beat. Literally. He LOVES it. Although we hear him practice daily, sometimes more than once, it was heartwarming to see him perform under pressure and enjoy every minute of his star moment. Colin is an old ham. True to Colin's style, he did not bore the crowd and he threw in a little of his humor to gain laughter. One quality that I admire in our boys is their ability to switch gears....one night they are engaged in a basketball game, sweating it out on the court, the next night they are all dressed up performing on the piano and then the next night they are learning basic life skills with boy scouts.
In MK news....we visited the cleft team on Wednesday for our annual cleft appointment at the local childrens hospital. She got good news from the speech therapist - speech is age appropriate at this time and does not require any additional therapy - yay! She also received a thumbs up from the plastic surgeon - palate looks good. And she got a thumbs down from the orthodontist. Her jaw continues to be of concern. All in all, the visit went well. Almost three years into this, I am now realizing that MK is a one doctor kind of girl. As much as she demands attention at home, she spats it away when four doctors come looking in on her at the same time. Also in MK land, she successfully finished up her last swim lesson on Saturday morning. She, at the age of barely 4, can swim the entire length of a junior Olympic size pool on her back and her tummy. She could technically participate in our neighborhood swim team this year so I asked her if she was interested. She asked, "Um, well, is that what my boys do?" I said, "Yes." MK asked, "Is that where all those people clap for the boys when they swim?" I said, "Yes." MK said, "Well, no, I don't like all those people clapping so I am not going to swim for them!" And that is that - maybe next year???
