Check-Ups

Today was a day that I honestly was dreading. It was a day to visit the doctor for Mason-Kate's well baby check-up. And it was to be Pryce's six year old check-up. So, I woke up this morning and put a smile on my face to tackle the dreaded day. Now, I have to say that it wasn't that bad after all! If you have read our posts weekly, you know how badly MK does not like to visit the doctor. I really went into the horror of it all a few posts back. Because of that post, I feel it is only right to say how well she did today. She smiled, she walked around, she sang, she did not scream at the sight of our doctor, she did so well....I was very proud of her. She cried only at the appropriate times....the shots and when I had to take off her clothes. She is still a healthy baby girl, her weight is excellent, her height is on the short length and her head is big....definitely a Drafts baby! Pryce went this afternoon for his appointment. He was a little hesitant at first for fear of shots. Once he heard there were no shots involved in his appointment, he was good to go. He too is a healthy boy....great weight, height and attitude. So, that is that, the dreaded doctor day wasn't so bad after all.

NC Mountains

For the past 4 years, our family has visited my parent's mountain cabin in NC. We love it there! The weather is cool, the ATVs are fun to ride, the food is great, the bear hunts are exciting, the fireworks are amazing, the shopping is quaint, etc. It is just all around a good time. Our trips to the mtns. are always memorable. This trip we chose to take the children to Ghost Town in the Sky. My children have not been the same since! The boys have taken to impersonating the gun fights they saw firsthand in the old town, they hide behind things yelling at the other one to come out and stand up for themselves "or I will shoot" and they even pretend to have dynamite to blow away any unwanted criminals. Mason-Kate stands to the side with a sword for protection. Keep in mind that I am not an advocate for guns, fighting, etc. especially when it comes to my children. However, they are having so much fun pretending to be like the old western folk that used to live back in the day. Appropriately so, the boys were taken with the live action and MK was taken with the Can-Can girls performance. She loved the music and is quite a dancer! She also enjoyed her first carousel ride while the boys rode the roller coaster a few times. Throughout our holiday weekend, I could not help but think about where MK was this time last year. On July 4th, 2007 our baby girl was being released from a children's hospital in China after having her lip repaired. To think that one year later, she is healed and with her forever family who just adores every second with her....definitely another reason to celebrate!
